Pom Klementieff
Pom Klementieff is an actress from
France, French actress was born on May 3, 1986. She attended the Cours Florent
drama academy in Paris. Her role includes Loup (2009) as well as Sleepless
Night (2011). She plays the character of Mantis, in the Marvel Cinematic
Universe films Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017), Avengers: Infinity War
(2018), and Avengers: Endgame (1999). Pom Klementieff was the child of an
Korean mother and an American-Russian father. Her father was consul in Quebec
City, Canada. Eugene Klementieff, a painter was her grandfather. Since it
sounds like the Korean words for "spring" or "tiger" Her
parents gave their daughter the name Pom. Klementieff lived for a year in
Canada prior to moving her family extensively due to her father's work. Prior
to making the move to France they resided in Japan as well as on the Ivory
Coast. Klementieff lost her father to cancer around age five. Her mother was
also diagnosed with schizophrenia. Klementieff was raised in France by her
paternal uncle and aunt. Her uncle, whom she described as "like her
father" passed away at the age of age 18. Her older brother who took his
own life seven years later, was also her aunt. Following the death of her
uncle, Klementieff went to law school for a short time to satisfy her aunt. But
she didn't consider the profession appealing. In France she was employed as a
waitress and salesperson. In the Cours Florent drama academy in Paris she
started acting when she was 19. After finishing her studies she was awarded an
acting competition that provided her with two years of tuition free alongside
some of the top instructors at the school. Klementieff was the first actress to
perform professionally in the independent French film Apres lui (2007). She
played the role of the step-daughter of the main character, Catherine Deneuve.
The filming took place over three days to capture her scenes. One scene
featured Klementieff pushing a person down a set of staircase, only to fall.
Gael Morel saved that scene for the film that was to be released. Loup (2009)
was her first leading role in a film. It's an French film about a tribe of
Siberian mountain reindeer herders. The actress filmed for hours in an isolated
camp away from the closest village. The temperature dropped to below zero while
filming.
