ALEX MORGAN BIO

Morgan was born on July 2, 1989 , to Pamela Morgan and Michael Morgan. They raised her along with her two sisters, Jeni and Jeri, in the Los Angeles suburb of Diamond Bar. Morgan played many activities as a youngster, but only began to play soccer at the age of 14. Morgan was a member of the Cypress Elite club team and came first in the Coast Soccer League under-16 championship. She also placed third in the under-19 bracket. Morgan continued to hone her skills in soccer at Diamond Bar High School. She was chosen as an All-American Athlete by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA). She was also a part of the Olympic Development Program (ODP) regional and state divisions. Morgan completed her soccer journey at UC Berkeley, where she played a key role in leading the California Golden Bears team in scoring from the very beginning of the season. She led the team to the NCAA Tournament in four years and to the second round twice. Morgan was one of four finalists for the Honda Sports Award. This made her the first Hermann Trophy finalists to be ranked at the top of the list. After graduating earlier in the year, Morgan was ranked third in all-time scoring goals and points for Berkeley. Morgan was a soccer player at the collegiate and the national level throughout her studies. Morgan was injured in her ACL the first time she played for Berkeley. This kept her from taking part in U.S. women's soccer under 20 until April of 2008. She scored her first international goal in Mexico during the CONCACAF Women's U-20 Championship. Morgan was also a part of the 2008 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup which she scored four goals while earning her team the gold medal among other accolades.Morgan was later absorbed into the senior national team for which she substituted and scored a number of important goals. One of them was a win goal against Italy, which earned the U.S. a place in the 2011 World Cup. Morgan was the youngest member of the team and he was the captain of the team to victory against France. Morgan was the team's youngest player and helped them win against Japan.
