Maureen O'Hara Biography

Maureen O'Hara was a renowned American actress and singer from Irish origin. The green-eyed beauty , with her flaming red hair was famous for her fiery and passionate parts in numerous American films. Her beautiful and glamour was highly praised and she was referred to as the "Queen of Technicolor' in Hollywood. The roles she played on screen were a reflection of her strong, brave spirit. She fought for respect and survival within an era of male dominance. She was known as the "tough Irish girl" and did not sacrifice her fame or respect to get the roles she was able to get by merit. She was a fervent supporter of women's roles in film and television, and gained a lot of followers due to this. Her autobiography, "Tis Herself", was released in 2004. It gave an honest and candid description of her life, including the struggles she faced in her climb to success. She was an active woman who didn't hesitate in doing her own stunts. Through the years she appeared in over 60 films and earned the attention of many across the world. After leaving Parra and getting married, she met Charles F. Blair Jr. in 1968. Blair was a brigadier and chief pilot and was a pioneer in transatlantic aviation. A few years into the couple's marriage, O'Hara made the decision to retire. Blair was tragically killed in a plane crash in 1978, ending her happiness. The same year, she was also diagnosed as suffering from uterine cancer and required to undergo urgent surgery. She eventually recovered. Her health began to decline as time went by and she was diagnosed with six heart attacks and short-term memory loss and diabetes mellitus type 2. On October 24, 2015, O'Hara died peacefully in Boise, Idaho, from natural causes at the age of 95.
