Daniel Hernandez (born May 8 in 1996), also known as Tekashi69 or 6ix9ine (pronounced "six nine"), is a popular American rapper from America. His music has been characterized by a sly style of rapping, and his controversial public persona is defined by his distinctive rainbow-colored hair, extensive tattoos, legal issues, and the publicized feuds between celebrities. Hernandez became widely known in late 2017 after the release of his debut single "Gummo", which was an overnight success. The mixtape Day69 (2018) was released by Hernandez. It included the singles "Kooda", Keke, and "Gotti" All three charted on Billboard's Hot 100. The album he released was Dummy Boy (2018)'s single "Fefe" which featured Nicki Minaj, Murda Beatz was ranked third on the Hot 100. Despite the negative reaction, Dummy Boy was made platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America. In the year 2015, Hernandez pleaded guilty to an felony charge of the use of a child during a sexual act and was sentenced to a four-year probation period and a 1000-hour community service order. In 2018, Hernandez was arrested on racketeeringand weapons and drugs charges. Facing as much as 47 years in prison, he admitted guilt to nine charges , including conspiracy to commit murder and armed robbery in February 2019. Hernandez was a witness at the trial, and was sentenced to two years in prison. In April 2020 Hernandez was granted an early release during the COVID-19 pandemic due to fears of his vulnerability to the disease because of his asthma condition. For the rest of his sentence, he was put under house arrest before being released in August of 2020. After the release from prison the single "Gooba" was released and peaked at number three in the US and "Trollz" the third track from his collaboration with Minaj, debuted at the top spot in the United States. His sophomore album, TattleTales (2020), came out at number four on the US Billboard 200. In his capacity as an eye witness in the prosecution's case in the Nine Trey Gangsters trial, Hernandez is almost universally condemned and ostracized by other hip-hop artists. Even though he has seen some commercial growth following his release from prison, Hernandez has effectively been barred from streaming platforms and radio.
